Paths in Salesforce provide loan officers with a visual guide outlining the essential stages to follow when navigating through a sales process. These customized paths can encompass critical fields that must be filled out by reps before progressing to the subsequent stage in the sales journey. Creating record type
- A path has to be associated with a record type.
- So before creating a path, create a record type for the respective object.
- In this eg., we have created a Record type ‘Borrower record’ on the loan object and associated it with a sales process called ‘Loan process we already created.
- This is done by navigating to Setup-Object Manager-Loan-Record Types-New Record type.

How to create a path in Salesforce
- Go to Setup
- Type Path Settings in the Quick find box
- Click Enable

- Click ‘New Path’
- Select Remember user’s Path preferences checkbox.

- Give an appropriate name to the new path
- Select the object. The object we have chosen here is ‘Loan’.
- Assign a record type for the path.
- Select the Picklist field of the object to be shown in the path.

- In step 2, you will be asked to select the key fields to be shown for each step of the path.
- Click Save.

- Specify your “Guidance for Success” on each step.
- Click Next.

- Make sure your path is activated.
- You can Enable Celebrations by turning on Enable Celebrations
- Select the picklist value for celebration. When a loan officer reaches this stage for any record, on -screen confetti celebrations will be visible to them.
- Choose the celebration frequency.
- Click Finish

- Create a loan record of Borrower record type to see what we have done in action.
- Select the stage ‘Closed’ and click on ‘Mark Loan Stage as Complete’.
- The confetti celebrations will be visible now.
